Struggling with behavior that just hasn't improved no matter what you've tried for your dog?
Maybe you can just tell something is *off* about your dog's gait, movement, or posture?
Or maybe you want to collect baseline data on your dog's movement so you can better track changes over time?
Movement assessments were made for you!
Research suggests that up to 80% of behavior cases have undiagnosed pain or discomfort. Dogs who are uncomfortable, sore, stiff, or even itchy frequently display behaviors like hyperactivity, separation anxiety, aggression and reactivity, resource guarding, noise sensitivity, and more. Continuing to train with undiagnosed discomfort at best delays your progress and at worst can actually increase the discomfort long term.
Movement assessments help bridge the gap between what your dog experiences and what your vet can find in a brief exam.
Learn MoreHi! I'm Blythe.
I decided to add movement assessments to my training toolbox after experiencing difficulty diagnosing and treating my own dog's pain in early 2023.
My service dog, Quimby, had always shown signs of discomfort, but every time I brought her to the vet, we were dismissed due to her age or her lack of pain response on exam.
After having a similar experience with 3 different clinics, I decided to learn for myself. I started with a conditioning and fitness certification, where I learned how to assess posture and movement in depth and spot signs of discomfort.
That course sparked a passion in me that I didn't know I had, which led to completing the Dynamic Dog program in early 2026.
Finally, I was able to clearly present evidence to a new vet team that led to her diagnosis of IVDD, and my second dog followed closely behind with a diagnosis of tethered cord syndrome.
Both dogs now have pain management on board, and their behavior challenges have almost completely resolved. Quimby is no longer terrified of slick flooring, and Melvin has had reaction-free walks for the first time in his life.
But the most important part is that they are happier and healthier because of it!

How Dynamic Dog (Full Movement) Assessments Work:
1. 90 Minute Zoom
This is a deep dive into all things your dog. I ask questions about your routines, all aspects of their health and wellness, and most importantly, your top concerns. This call frequently brings up things that you've forgotten or have always considered a quirk that can act as clues for your vet. This makes up the history portion of the report for your vet and guides pieces of the data gathering process.
2. Data Gathering
This stage is self paced and run through an online course. This is where I teach you how to gather photos of your dog in all different positions. We look at their nails, coat, and paw pads, as well as their sleeping positions. We gather proper gait videos at various angles along with videos of their daily activities like eating, drinking, eliminating, playing, and more. You submit each one to me for review, and once we have all the right angles, we move to stage 3.
3. Report Writing
This is the stage where I take every bit of information from the zoom call and pick out all the important pieces for your vet. I evaluate each and every video you've sent and pull out the ones that best illustrate the postural and gait indications of discomfort. Then I compile everything into a clear report with undeniable evidence that you can take to your vet for next steps.
4. Follow Up Support
This stage is flexible to what you need. If you want to set up a 30 minute call to go over the findings and dive into the evidence with me, we can do that. If you need support finding a vet or specialist, messaging your vet team, or even attending appointments, I can do that as well. Most students prefer a follow up zoom call paired with texting support for the next steps with their vets.
Aiden & Tenzin (Labrador)
"I had felt that despite my best efforts and going to multiple professionals that we had still not found anything to explain Tenzin's behavior. After the Dynamic Dog Assessment I feel like I have proof of what felt like an invisible problem. Having the clear documents and videos to turn to will make navigating future conversations much easier, so Tenzin can get the support he needs and I can feel at peace knowing that we have a direction to head."
If the full Dynamic Dog Assessment is a barrier due to cost, or maybe you just want baseline data for your dog without the extras...
A stand-alone movement assessment is for you!
We'll start with an intake form instead of a zoom call. Then I teach you how to gather photos and videos of your dog's movement in a variety of postures, gaits, and activities. I'll write a short report for you to take to your vet of the movement abnormalities and compensatory patterns I've found. Follow up support for this assessment is at an additional cost.
Krista & Eliot (Golden Retriever)
"I came to Blythe for a movement assessment of my golden retriever, Eliot, who has elbow dysplasia in his left foreleg. He's my service dog, so I wanted two things: to understand exactly how his diagnosis was affecting his body day to day, and to catch pain early enough to act on it rather than react to it.
Blythe was phenomenal throughout. She explained what she was looking for and why, gave clear instruction on capturing the footage, and checked in during the entire process. Her report was thorough and professional, documenting specific gait and posture adaptations our vet team couldn't possibly catch in office.
I shared it with both our primary vet and Eliot's surgeon. Our primary was blown away by the detailed information and his surgeon loved the specific angles on the gait videos. The report directly shaped our treatment decisions.
Because I now know Eliot's baseline patterns, I can spot early flags that he's starting to hurt. For example, I noticed he'd stopped doing a sphinx down, so we can adjust his treatment before pain escalates. If something seems "off" with your dog and you can't articulate it, or you want real baseline data, this is the place to start."

Disclaimer: Movement assessments are not veterinary care or advice.
My job as a Dynamic Dog Practitioner and CPCFT is to help you gather observations, data, and concrete evidence to share with your veterinarian to guide further diagnostics and treatment for your dog, not to give medical advice.
Changes in gait or posture are difficult to describe during an appointment, and are even more difficult to spot in the moment on a brief exam. By compiling a full report of your dog's real life movements outside of the clinic, your vet will get a full picture of your dog's day to day life. Not just their appearance in the clinic, which can be affected by stress, anxiety, slippery floors, and more.
Success stories:
Ashley & Duchess (Labrador)
"Blythe was very easy to work with and gave clear instruction/direction on how to gather the necessary videos/pictures in order to complete the gait analysis. This process really opened my eyes to pain/discomfort signals that I hadn’t been able to identify beforehand. Through this assessment, we identified that there was an abnormal gait and most definitely discomfort present.
Blythe drafted a detailed report and video summarizing her findings. The report and video helped my vet be able to see the things that were missed during her annual exam a few weeks prior (no fault of her own since Duchess hides her discomfort very well during exam due to stress).
Ultimately, this gait analysis has allowed me to feel confident advocating for my dog to be further examined for pain (even though she had a normal initial annual exam) and lead the vet to re-examine her more throughly.
We found that there was an abnormality with the extension of her left back leg (which made sense based on the gait analysis).
Overall, if you are unsure if your puppy is experiencing discomfort/pain or just want to ensure that their gait is normal, this analysis is a great option to pursue!"
Kellie & Smithers (Mix)
"Smithers and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Blythe on a Dynamic Dog Assessment! I noticed that he had unexplained panting regularly in the evenings and I worried that he might be experiencing pain. The assessment was so thorough and I learned a lot of information about Smitty’s body that I would have never known otherwise.
Blythe’s prompts, explanations and examples for capturing footage were detailed and super helpful to make the process easier. She was very attentive to questions and really worked to ensure things went as seamlessly as possible.
With the information that I learned, I felt much more confident in speaking with my vet about potential pain points to investigate and the best questions to ask.
The findings were even sent directly to my vet! We cannot thank Blythe enough for helping me better understand how Smitty’s weird lil bod works and what to keep an eye on going forward. If you have questions on how your dog is moving or what that could mean, we highly recommend having Blythe assess!"
